Sanding Pads

I have an 30 foot pool. I would like to use 4x8 3/4 inch styrofoam sheets for padding. No sand will this work? Would like to know if I can use 4x8 sheets of styrofoam 3/4 inch for padding under my pool. The setup guild says it's ok. I would like to know someone who has done this before. I hate trying to get 8 tons of sand LOL. The setup guild said to duct tape all the the seems and then install the liner. thanks Mike T. Yes, you can use sheet foam under the pool instead of sand...you still need to spend some time leveling the site, and removing any large/sharp rocks. Personally, I prefer the thicker 1.5 to 2 inch foam... it's stiffer. DO ductape all the foam sheet seams, as this helps prevent them from sliding apart, and your liner falling between them. Use a good heavy duty brand of duct tape (Gorilla brand is very good), and don't stint on it... use plenty of it. Run some tape, in about 2 ft lengths across the seams, to tie the sheets togethr, and then a couple of rows of it, overlapping, along the seams. (the extra layers help provide some strength to the seam). The last thing you want to happen, is for your liner to start falling into a gap between the foam sheets, hehe. Prepping the ground under the foam sheeting is very important too... if its not level, the sheeting will crack as it settles to the lowest point. Getting the ground level is very very important, along with removing any rocks that can work their way thru the foam. Good Luck!
